Postdoctoral Research Associate

Brown University announces a search for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in sociology or a related discipline. The term of this appointment is twelve months and may be filled as early as September 1, 2005. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand or firmly expected by December 2005.

The Research Associate will participate in a variety of research projects supported by the University’s initiative on Spatial Structures in the Social Sciences and by external grants. Current studies include residential and labor market incorporation of immigrants and minorities in U.S. cities, school segregation and its impacts on student outcomes, and political participation by immigrants. Candidates should have experience working with census data and similar large-scale datasets; knowledge of mapping and spatial analysis tools is desirable.

The Research Associate will be affiliated with the Population Studies and Training Center (www.pstc.brown.edu), and will have access to the considerable PSTC research infrastructure.
