The Brown University and Ethiopia Partnership

Since 1995, Brown University’s Population Studies and Training Center has had an active program of training and research in Ethiopia. We have a longstanding institutional collaboration with the Department of Population and Family Health at Jimma University. We have conducted a number of capacity-building activities, including curricular review and intensive training workshops on research design and statistical methods for the study of population and reproductive health.

Together with our collaborators in Ethiopia and our colleagues at Brown University we have done original population health surveys and published many scientific and policy papers. We are now embarked on a new program of policy-relevant scientific research on adolescent life, physical and reproductive health, risk taking, with the goal of improving the lives and fortunes of the next generation of Ethiopian citizens. This web site describes these activities.
